This is the big day, I thought to myself. After all this time of running through the shadows, the princess and I would finally be able to let our love be known to the world. And on her birthday, no less.
I sat at the edge of my bed, staring down at my hand as I watched a pale red energy crackle from my palm. I balled my fist, letting the energy dissipate as I stood up and walked to my closet. I put on my best suit, a deep black leather armor with rose-golden accents. This was quite a special occasion, after all.
Once I had put on all my armor, I put my bow and quiver on my back and slid my daggers into their sheathes. This may be a day of festivities, but I can't afford to let my guard down around the princess. I must always be ready to protect her. I walked to the door and made my way out of my room. I walked through the empty corridors of our castle, travelling down to the king's lounging room. He and my mother were sitting calmly, enjoying a glass of wine on one of the couches. I approached them, bowing softly as I enter their line of sight. "I think this should suffice."
My mother jumped from her seat, running over to me and pulling me into a tight embrace. "Oh, my son. You look absolutely lovely! I'm sure her parents will adore you." She kissed my cheek and smiled up at me, adjusting the straps on my armor to make sure nothing was out of place. My father simply nodded in approval, a jovial smile plastered on his lips.
"I'll make my way to their castle via portal, make sure everything is in order by the time you arrive." I bowed again, opening a portal behind me as I backed into it and transported myself to the castle of my bride-to-be. I made my way through the elegant halls and rooms, trying to find where my love was preparing herself for the meeting.
After a few minutes of aimless wandering I picked up the voice of my darling, singing alone in one of the gardens. I made my way towards the voice, being careful not to alert her to my presence. I peeked around the corner, catching a glimpse of her as she sat pristine upon the small bench. I slowly walked behind her, trying not to scare her as I gently placed my hand on her shoulder. "Hello there, Momophily.."
She turned around, looking up at me with surprise. "Cruxician, what in the world are you doing?!" She asked, her eyes widened as they glowed a soft lavender.
I smiled softly, my finger gently tracing up her jaw as I looked down at her. She was so soft, so innocent. Her eyes still sparkled with that same light I fell in love with long ago. "My parents will be be on their way shortly. Is your family prepared?"
She nodded, placing her hand over mine. "Yes, they'll be waiting for them. But why are you sneaking around? If a guard sees you, we'd both be in trouble." She looked up at me with concern. I could never argue with those eyes.
"I just had to see you once more before the meeting. I'll go and take my place, and I'll see you soon." I kissed her lips softly, giving her a gently smile. Her lips were soft and sweet, like wisps of chocolate clouds. "I love you, my angel."
And with those words, I disappeared. I made my way through the halls, ensuring everything was in place before I went to the meeting place to wait for my parents. I could feel the day's potential radiating, Momophily and I standing on the precipice of a beautiful future. Now, I needed only to wait for the moment of truth.
